On April 1, 2004. the Boards of Spectra Management Services and Clinical and Support Options, Inc. concluded an agreement that paved the way for the Spectra programs to become part of the CSO family of services.
Community Corrections
The Massachusetts Department of Corrections has provided Spectra with the funds necessary to operate the only Community Corrections Program in the entire western region of the state. Under this contract, Spectra provides comprehensive services to offenders referred by Probation, Parole, and various correctional facilities. Clients can take part in Life Skills, Violence Reduction, Substance Abuse, Job Readiness, Pre-Employment Training and Basic Education/GED instruction.
Parental Opportunity
This program offers education and employment services to young fathers aged 16-21.
Clean Slate
In collaboration with the Springfield Police Department and the Springfield Juvenile Court, this program provides an accountability based opportunity for juvenile offenders to meet their court imposed community service obligation. Classroom instructions and enrichment presentations, along with work-site supervision is offered in a safe after-school environment at the Police Department’s Youth Assessment Center.
Pre-Release
Spectra has a contract with the Hampden County House of Corrections to provide Job Readiness, Education and Job Development services for the Day Reporting. Pre-Release & Western Mass Correctional Alcohol Centers.
Stoplift
A unique remediation and education program for shoplifters.
During a full day of instruction, offenders examine their motives, learn about the legal consequences of continued shoplifting and develop appropriate behaviors to prevent reoccurrence of this crime. Stoplift is an alternative to prosecution for first-time juvenile and adult offenders.
McKinney Esteem Machine
This program provides Pre-Employments and supportive services to homeless clients in the greater Springfield area.
Pre-Employment Training
A two-week classroom experience designed to build self-confidence and prepare the client for job development and employment.
Rachel Stockton Women’s Center
A drop-in, information and service facility for female offenders on probation and/or reentering community living from incarceration, designed to address the special needs of this population.
Rachel Stockton Food Pantry
Offered to anyone in MA in need of food, open Fridays 10-noon
Job Development
A personalized service offered to each client in which his/her aptitudes and skills are matched with the needs of employers, resulting in an agreement which is mutually beneficial for both.
Follow-up Services
On-going support is provided to both clients and employers by Spectra staff. This service plays and integral part in the agency’s ability to maintain its high employment retention rate.
GED / ESL / ABE Instruction
Offered to each client who has not completed his/her secondary education.
Referral Services
If needed, referrals are made to other agencies, institutions of learning, and skills training facilities.
The new Spectra Center will continue to forge collaborations with other service providers in the Springfield area, and develop the longstanding relationships with Corrections Services.
